I grew up in Montana also, and as the others have said, definitely be prepared for anything and everything. Glacier is one of the most beautiful places on earth and the going to the sun road should be open by then. Also you may want to check out Lake Louise, Revelstoke, and Banff National Park in Alberta. They are all pretty much on your way to Glacier if you are coming from Vancouver. We have been talking about taking that same drive later this summer, but with the camper rather than the bikes. No matter what route you take in that area you won't be sorry. That entire area is quite breathtaking. Take care and have a great trip.
